Here is what i did (with Eclipse 3.0.1)

After upzipped to the plugins directory.
Goto "Help > Software Update > Find and Install..."
Choose "Search for new features to install" radio button.
Go Next 
Click on "New Local Site" and choose the epic plug-in directory 
Select the location you just added and go Next
Select the epic plugin 
Then just simply follow the instruction..
